A TROPHY WEEKEND
The SOUTH JERSEY WINE BLOG had a nice little mini-vacation this weekend at the Brigantine home of Tom and Barbara T. who are part of our Friday Night BYOB crowd. Joe and Carol B, Jerry and Sue C, and my wife, Kathy and myself spent two wonderful days enjoying the Indian Summer days and cool nights and finding time for two great dinners, visits to the casinos, and lots of great conversation among friends.
October is a wonderful time at the Jersey shore with the weather still warm and the crowds conspicuously absent. We walked on the beach, visited the charming little town of Smithville which was having their own version of Irish Weekend, and even found time for a Sunday morning pancake breakfast at a place called Latitude 39 at Gardiner’s Basin.
If you could have seen the dining room table at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday as we decided it was time for some “snacks” before our 8 P.M. dinner reservation. There were chips and dips and cheesesteaks and Swedish meatballs and wine and cheeses and grapes and assorted fruits and eight scavengers picking like we may never make it until dinner without this orgy of food and drink. We did make it though and still found a way to enjoy our dinner. Our thanks to Tom and Barbara for organizing this special fun weekend.
